You can share the light of Christmas and help children in Indonesia find their way back to the love, security and belonging of family with a gift to the Christmas Day Offering.

Rather than relying on institutional care, the Safe Pathways for Children project works to help keep families together. That means supporting mothers and babies, and reuniting children from group homes into safe, loving family environments. Because of this project, more children are experiencing the stability, nurture and sense of belonging that every child deserves.

You can help create lasting change as this project addresses the cause of family separation and works to break generational patterns. Through partnerships with local communities, churches and organisations, The Salvation Army is reflecting God’s heart for children for generations to come by restoring dignity, helping families flourish and building resilient communities.

God sets the lonely in families …

Safe Pathways for Children

Safe Pathways for Children

The project is focusing on the transformational care of children, shifting away from institutional care toward safe, nurturing and empowering family-based care models for children and young people.

The need

  • Indonesia is home to approximately 80 million children (0–17 years), representing around 28 per cent of the population, making it one of the largest child populations in the world.1
  • Economic hardship, migration for work, disability and natural disasters can place significant strain on families, increasing children's vulnerability.2
  • Poverty is one of the leading drivers of family separation. Many children living apart from their parents are not orphans but have been placed in residential care because families lack the financial means to provide education or basic necessities.

Your gift to the Christmas Day Offering can help ensure more children experience the safety, hope and opportunity that comes from growing up surrounded by the care of a loving family.

About your gift

The Christmas Day Offering supports countries or territories where corps may be unable to self-fund their mission work, there is limited government support or restricted abilities to fundraise among the community.

We encourage you to give to Evangelical Mission Support projects as they enable the Kingdom of God to grow through activities that are ineligible for other forms of international aid. If you require a tax-deductible receipt, you can choose to give to Community Development initiatives.
